Kathryn Summersett

 

Kathryn Summersett, soprano, is currently in Bloomington, IN earning her Doctor of Music at the Jacobs school of Music. She received her MM from University of North Texas and her BM from University of Massachusetts.

 

Miss Summersett has soloed at Boston Early Music Festival in 2009, 2011 and 2013, the first for which she received a positive review in Early Music America magazine. In 2010 , she performed by invitation at the University of Cordoba in Argentina as well as performing in American Bach Soloist’s first academy.

 

At UNT, Kathryn received the Adams/Nordstrom Early Music Award given to one student per year and with the UNT opera, she performed the role of Despina in Cosi Fan Tutte.

She has also soloed in other programs such as the Florence Voice Seminar in Florence, Italy, Amherst Early Music in New London, CT, Academia D’Amore in Seattle, WA and the Lute Society of America conference for which she was the first vocalist to receive a scholarship to attend.

 

While at IU, she has performed the Italian women in J.B. Lully’s Le Bourgeois Gentilhomme, Venus in John Blow’s Venus and Adonis as well as directing/producing the Purcell Project: A Masque performed by the Early Music Institute.

 

Miss Summersett became Certified McClosky Voice Technician in the summer of 2013.
