Kaitlyn Applewhite Morgan
Kaitlyn Applewhite Morgan is a versatile performer who loves teaching students of all ages from young elementary to senior adults. Her students vary in experience and style including classical, musical theatre, and contemporary. Kaitlyn is passionate about educating her students on the McClosky technique and guiding them in discovering vocal freedom, ease, and power in song and speech.
Kaitlyn is a graduate of Furman University with a B.M. in Vocal Performance, B.A. in Piano, and minor in Musical Theatre. As an undergraduate, Kaitlyn was President of Furman Singers and a member of Chamber Choir, HoneyBees barbershop quartet, and a jazz combo. She was employed as Furman’s Chancel Music Director and as a student teacher in Furman’s Piano for Young People program. After graduation Kaitlyn returned to Piano for Young People as a staff teacher.
Kaitlyn’s voice teachers include Victoria Bess Adams and Lisa Browne Barksdale. Kaitlyn also studied voice with Jeff Mattsey at Chicago Summer Opera, where she performed her opera debut as Papagena in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte. Kaitlyn’s opera scene roles include Despina in Mozart’s Così fan tutte, Zerlina in Mozart’s Don Giovanni, MaÅ™enka in Smetana’s The Bartered Bride, and Adele in J Strauss’ Die Fledermaus. Kaitlyn’s musical theatre roles include Lucinda in Sondheim’s Into The Woods and Lady Beaconsfield in Wildhorn’s Jekyll and Hyde.
Kaitlyn has appeared as a soloist with Furman Symphony Orchestra, singing “Rejoice Greatly, O Daughter of Zion” in Handel’s Messiah and “Laudumus Te” in Vivaldi’s Gloria. Prior to attending Furman, Kaitlyn sang for three seasons as a Young Artist with The Greenville Chorale, and she has resumed singing with the chorale since graduation.
Kaitlyn sings in her church choir and vocal team in traditional, contemporary, and modern worship services at Taylors First Baptist Church. She has served in worship ministry with Taylors in South Carolina, Alabama, Louisiana, Washington D.C, New York, and Alaska.
Kaitlyn lives in Greenville, South Carolina with her husband and their three-legged cat and Lagotto Romagnolo puppy. In addition to her musical endeavors, Kaitlyn is an avid social dancer and figure skater, who enjoys hiking and water sports on the lake.
