Dorothy Sandness

Dorothy Sandness teaches at Hibbing Community College where she teaches Rock and Roll: A Brief History; Music Appreciation, America’s Popular Music, and also directs the Cardinal Chorale. While at Santa Clara University (SCU), she performed the role of Jasmine from Aladdin in the SCU Pops Ensemble, and was active in the SCU Concert Choir.

After graduating with a degree in Religious Studies and a minor in Spanish from SCU, Dorothy returned to Duluth Minnesota where she realized her true passion was to teach music. While completing her undergraduate degree in Music Education at the University of Minnesota-Duluth (UMD), she served as soprano section leader for the University Singers, and was also a member of Chamber Singers under the direction of Dr. Stanley R. Wold.

While teaching K-12 vocal and general classroom music for Duluth Public Schools, she earned her Masters in Music Education from UMD and was a member of the Gloria Dei Lutheran Church Choir also under the direction of Dr. Wold.  In the spring of 2009, she played the role of Mabel in HCC’s production of The Pirates of Penzance. She continues to sing under the direction of Roy Berg in the Voices of Reason ensemble in Hibbing Minnesota, and teaches Sunday School Music at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church.
