| HOME --> CMVT -->PAMELA CAMPBELL Prince Edward Island's Pamela Campbell is a singer, actor, recording artist, voice therapist, teacher, music and theatre director, composer, choral conductor, administrator, and adjudicator. She holds a Master of Fine Arts (Musical Theatre) degree in Acting and Directing from Syracuse University and a Bachelor of Music (Honours) degree in Voice Performance from the University of Western Ontario. Ms. Campbell's special interest in voice led her to graduate work at the Boston Conservatory and certification in voice therapy techniques from David Blair McClosky, a pioneer in the field of voice therapy. As well, she took additional music and drama courses at Boston University and Emerson College (Boston) and at Acadia University and the University of Prince Edward Island (Canada). Before returning to her native province in 1989, Pamela performed and taught in various centres across Canada and the United States. On two occasions, Ms. Campbell competed as the PEI Vocal Representative at the Canadian National Music Festival in Toronto. She has appeared with &endash; among others &endash; the Canadian Opera Company, the Elmer Iseler Singers, Opera In Concert, The Charlottetown Festival, Syracuse Stage, Homefree Productions, TheatrePEI, and various symphony orchestras. With over twenty-five years of teaching experience, Pam has been innovative in many areas of music and theatre education, having founded organizations such as the Concert Corner Summer Concert Series, The Charlottetown Music Studio, Triple Threats! Inc., and most recently, Studio TaDa. Ms. Campbell has studied under such renowned conductors as Deral Johnson and Howard Cable (Canada), Atillio Poto and Robert Gartside (USA). Her choral conducting experience ranges from elementary school and university choirs to community amateur groups, church choirs and professional ensembles. In addition, Pamela has held teaching positions with such prestigious national and international institutions as The Banff School of Fine Arts, Syracuse University and Western Ontario Conservatory of Music. She has been a member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing for twenty-five years and has served on the Board of Directors for the McClosky Institute of Voice. Other distinguished voice teachers with whom Ms. Campbell has worked and who have influenced her progressive teaching approach are Dr. Karin Pendle (Cincinnati, OH), Dr. Richard Miller (Oberlin, OH), Dr. William Riley (New York, NY), Dan Marek (New York, NY), Dr. Kenneth Crannell (Boston, MA), Donna Roll (Boston, MA), to name a few. In 1991 Pam released her first solo recording, For The Love O' Burns, based on the works of the Scottish poet Robbie Burns, and followed it with a one-woman stage show of the same name. A Nightingale Sang, her second recording and stage production featuring songs from the World War II era, premiered during the summer of 1992. In 1993, especially for her parents, she released a collection of their favourite hymns, entitled An Evening Prayer. In the summer of 1995, Pam premiered her one-woman musical, Wingin' It!, for which she also composed and arranged the music. She has since released a recording of Wingin' It! and has toured this show extensively, including an Off-Broadway run in New York City in 1998. Pam presently runs Studio TaDa, a private voice studio in Stratford, PEI.
